ROMAN AND PRE-VIKING
February 2010 : Page updated, broken links fixed.
A ROMAN FORT IN SAALBURG, GERMANY
Links to an index of my photos from the fort in Saalburg.
At some point (in the probably distant future) I will get around to putting up pages too.
You'll find jumbled a bit together photos of some weapons, a helmet, lots of shoes and ceramics, pins, thingies, the fort and ruins....
ABOUT THE FORT ON EXTERNAL WEBSITES
The German "Limes" Road runs close to the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian "Limes" from the Rhine to the Danube. Most of the forts were founded at the beginning or middle of the 2nd century and existed until the end of the Roman occupation 260/270 A.D.. The "Limes" runs from Rhein-brohl to Regensburg, covering a distance of over 500 km.
